Shell Key is one of Pinellas counties largest uninhabited barrier islands. The island forms the outer boundary of the Shell Key Preserve and protects the area from the Gulf of Mexico. Our Shell Key Tour is a great option if you would like to experience the preserve by kayak and spend more time on the island. On this 3 to 3.5 hour trip we’ll explore the mangroves and seagrass meadows at the heart of this coastal ecosystem and also enjoy an hour of free time on the barrier island to look for shells, go for a swim, or just relax. This is one of the few undeveloped coastal areas in the county and home to osprey, nesting sea turtles, dolphins, manatees, a variety of local shorebirds, and more. Come join us for a tour of this beautiful coastal environment!
Cost is $48pp (plus tax)
This tour departs from a public launch site located at 2700 Pinellas Bayway South, Tierra Verde, FL 33715 just North of Fort De Soto State Park. No experience is necessary.
